User Content

What does Autocab collect?

We collect content submitted by users to Autocab, including driver compliments, customer support communications, ratings, and recommendations to other users.

Why do we collect this information?

User information is used to provide helpful customer support, to share feedback with drivers, to improve safety, and to research and develop features for a better Autocab experience.

When do we collect this information?

When a passenger or driver submits content to Autocab.

Is the collection of this information optional?

Yes. This information is only collected when a user submits content to Autocab, such as when a passenger rates a driver or contacts customer service.

How long do we retain this information?

Ratings and other content that users provide, or that is provided about a driver, will be retained for as long as users maintain their Autocab account, or as required by law.

Usage information

What does Autocab collect?

Autocab collects app or website access dates and times, app features or pages viewed, app crashes and other system activity, browser types and information, and third-party sites or services users were using before interacting with our services.

Why do we collect this information?

We use this information to enable and improve user experience with our services; to research and develop new services and features; and to prevent, detect, and combat fraud.

When do we collect this information?

When users use our apps or visit our websites.

How long do we retain this information?

Autocab retains this information for at least 7 years in connection with regulatory, tax, insurance, and other legal requirements, unless longer retention is required by law.

Is the collection of this information optional?

No. Usage information is generated and collected each time a user uses Autocab’s services.

Location

What does Autocab collect?

We collect information that helps us determine user location, including GPS, IP address, and wifi.

Why do we collect this information?

There are numerous ways that user location data creates a smooth and stress-free experience. User location is used to calculate pricing and fares; offer upfront pricing before a passenger requests a trip; facilitate seamless pickups and drop offs; provide trip status, history, and invoicing; facilitate research and development; enable social features; provide faster and personalised customer support; enhance the safety and security of our users; and prevent, detect, and combat fraud.

When do we collect this information?

For drivers, we collect this information when the app is running in the foreground or background of their device.

For passengers who grant Autocab permission to collect their location information, we collect this information when the app is running in the foreground. In some regions, we may also collect this information when the app is running in the background.

Is the collection of this information optional?

Collection of location information is required for drivers. Passengers are not required to turn on location services to use the Autocab app. However, opting out may affect the app’s functionality. For example, users will have to manually enter their pickup address. Location information for every trip is collected from the driver, even if location information is not being collected from the passenger’s device.

How long do we retain this information?

Autocab retains this information for at least 7 years in connection with regulatory, tax, insurance, and other legal requirements, unless longer retention is required by law.

For users in the EU, what legal grounds does Autocab have for collecting this information?

Autocab processes this information in order to provide the services and features user’s request and for purposes of Autocab’s legitimate interests such as safety, security, and fraud prevention for all users. For passengers who have given Autocab permission to collect their location data, we also collect this information on the basis of consent.

User profile

What does Autocab collect?

We collect users’ names, logins, passwords, and phone numbers and/or email.

For passengers, we also collect payment information.

For drivers, we also collect photo, and vehicle and insurance information.

Why do we collect this information?

User information is used to enable the use of our services, to send users relevant and personalised communications, to verify user identity for account access and payments, and to improve our services.

When do we collect this information?

When users create or update their account.

Is the collection of this information optional?

Autocab requires some profile information to enable the use of Autocab’s services. This generally includes a user name, login, password, and phone number.

For drivers, the additional profile information listed above is also required to enable Autocab to comply with applicable laws.

How long do we retain this information?

For as long as a user maintains their Autocab account, unless otherwise required by law.

Transactional information

What does Autocab collect?

Information including the amount charged, date and time, distance travelled, promotional code information, services requested or provided, and transaction details.

Why do we collect this information?

This information is used for tax, financial, and other administrative purposes to provide customer support, to prevent and detect fraud, and for research and development.

When do we collect this information?

This information is generated and collected when user’s request or provide services using Autocab’s apps.

Is the collection of this information optional?

No. Transactional information is generated each time passengers or drivers use Autocab’s services.

How long do we retain this information?

Autocab retains this information for at least 7 years in connection with regulatory, tax, insurance, and other legal requirements, unless longer retention is required by law.

Device information

What does Autocab collect?

Autocab may collect information about the devices used to access our services, including the hardware models, operating systems and versions, software, file names and versions, preferred languages, unique device identifiers, advertising identifiers, serial numbers, device motion information, and mobile network information.

This information helps us communicate with passengers and drivers; protect user safety and security; optimise and improve user experience; and prevent, detect, and combat fraud.

When do we collect this information?

Whenever users make use of our services.

How do I submit a question to Autocab’s Data Protection Officer (DPO), and what is their role?

How does a user look up or control the information that Autocab collects about them?

  • opt-out of receiving promotional communications from Autocab
  • delete their Autocab account

How long does Autocab keep user information?

Autocab keeps user information as long as a user has an Autocab account. Users can request to delete their account at any time. In some cases, Autocab may keep some information after a user asks us to delete their account, including when we’re required to by law, if there are outstanding issues related to their account (like unpaid trips), or if it’s necessary for safety and security purposes.
